A Traders Universe - Stock, Futures & Forex Trading System Development for Creating Wealth

Forex Trading Education - For The Forex Trader.
Are You Looking For A Forex Trading System Or Trading Course?

It's an extremely hard choice to make when deciding where you want to invest your education in the form of a decent forex trading education. For the sake of choice I have found some Forex Trading Courses that you may find interesting.

Below are Forex courses written by Forex Traders themselves in the attempt that they can help improve someone's financial situation. Of all the one's listed I have made comments on the ones I am able to make comments on, to give you a better idea.

There is a couple of questions you need to ask yourself.

1) One is, do you want to be trading full time, or part time? Trading part time, doesn't just mean you only trade a few hours a week, etc, it also means you only have a few hours a week to devote to study, and every course will have study you must complete.

2) Two is, do you want to be a trader who concentrates on more of the fundamental side of things, or the technical side of things, or do you want something that is mechanical. I will answer these questions as best I can with what I know about some of the courses below. But in the meantime, please read on....

If your new to Forex trading and the thought of spending lots of money on Forex courses scares you, my only answer is that you get what you pay for. To better explain this, lets just say you buy a book for $50. Well, the first thing you are going to be faced with is how much time do you have to study the material presented in the book. If you don't have much then a $10,000 course will do you no better than a $50 book. So you get what you pay for, and if you aren't prepared to pay the price of time, then you're going to find success quite difficult.

To me this is more important than the actual strategies themselves, so if you do decide to buy a course, be prepared to study. Having said all this though, some other points to note when buying a course is to find out whether there is support available. Obviously, the more you pay the more support you should expect.

Another point to note is ask if some of the testimonials can be contacted. I get contacted all the time about Peter Bain's course and for good reason. He is asking around $500 for his course. Of course I always give glowing reviews for Peter because his whole system of support is probably second to none (although I do expect some emails from some who claim their's is better and that is healthy).

Take your time to research any course you are looking to purchase, and understand this - just because a web site looks all snazzy and promises big rewards you shouldn't just dismiss it. Marketing is what it's all about and unless someone markets something, how on earth will you ever find out about it (except for word of mouth). The only true way to find out what's beneath the surface and behind all the hype is to ask questions, and if you don't get the answers you seek, then look elsewhere.

yes   Ideal for those wanting a mechanical approach, however it does allow for more advanced users to apply some discretion.

   Ideal for beginners

Will suit both those who have little time and those who have a lot.

Just recently I was alerted to a trader by the name of Avi Frister, who has been trading for 11 years and has developed a mechanical way of trading Forex, called Price Driven Forex Trading.

I have never found a good mechanical system for Forex and so over the years have developed my own discretionary system which I am happy with, however when I saw this, I had to check it out.

There are three systems available, and although Avi trades all three however, you don't need to.

One system is for those with little time available. This swing trading system sticks to the GBP/USD pair and will trigger on average about 4 trades per month. The time it takes to seek out these trades is about 1 minute per day! The length of the trades are about, a day or two. The results of his previous trades show quite an impressive return.

The next two systems are for day traders.
One is for those that like to trade pre London, and early London sessions, and requires a few hours.
The second is more active and may see you trading several trades during a session, however can be traded at any time.

Some of the benefits are as follows -

Completely mechanical: There is no room for subjectivity. There are simple rules to enter A + B = C, and simple rules to exit. As simple as that!

No indicators: All systems are based on price and nothing else. There are absolutely no other indicators, no trendlines, no pivots, no fibonacci, no oscillators and so on, something I admire!

Sticking to one or two currency pairs: One system is for GBP/USD, and the other two are for the EUR/USD however you can choose to trade the GBP/USD or the USD/CHF pairs depending on your tolerance to volatility or your need for more.

3 systems to choose from depending on your time available: If you can't trade intra-day, then the swing trading system is for you, however you are still only in the trade for a day or two. If you have plenty of time then you can trade one or all three.

There is a section on money management: Extremely important.

Profit targets are bigger than risk amounts.

You will have confidence in pulling the trigger because you don't have to make any other decision other than pulling the trigger.

If you are one of those Forex traders who hates to make decisions, needs a steady return over time, wants something mechanical with easy rules to enter and exit, hates indicators, then I strongly recommend you check out Avi's Price Driven Forex Trading

Like I said, I got myself a copy and so I have read the whole book from start to finish. I think if you are on those Forex traders I just mentioned above, then this is for you.

Ideal for those looking to understand more of the fundamentals of the forex market and what drives price in the long term

More suited to those with some experience in at least placing a forex trade

Better suited to those who have more time on their hands if you want to utilize Dirk's approach

Bird Watching in Lion Country - Retail Forex Trading Explained

Bird Watching in Lion Country is a comprehensive look at the mind of a very successful forex trader, who understands the forex market. From the marketing techniques involved, the leverage trap, the meat of what moves currencies, right through to Dirk's own method for trading.

There is lot of information to absorb in Dirk's book, however I feel after reading it, you will know more about the forex landscape than most fund managers and investment houses that speculate on the forex. You will also gain a far better understanding of what it is a broker and market maker must do in order to remain profitable. In most cases traders are unaware that this comes at their expense.

What actually attracted me to this book in the first place was the title! I mean, what on earth does bird watching in lion country have to do with forex trading, but I can tell you this, it has a lot. Imagine an unsuspecting bird watcher, camera strapped to his neck, who decides to wander into the wilderness without a guide. As disturbing as this sounds, imagine this same bird watcher deciding to pick up what appears to be a large brown stick poking out from the other side of a bush. Well, that stick is the Lion's tail! In forex land, we traders are the bird watchers and the Lion is Forex.

Most traders are walking into a trap every time they sign up for an account. Bird watching in lion country takes you on a journey through the marketing techniques used by the forex brokers and market makers and gives you the knowledge to stay one step ahead.

While I have placed a lot of emphasis on the marketing of forex, there is also a large amount of time spent on understanding the forex market in general, and this information is not what you'll find in all the regurgitated web sites that offer nothing more than stolen articles on forex. It is the nuts and bolts of what drives the markets, and coupled with a thorough explanation of fundamental forces, it will give readers a very independant outlook on currencies. So much so that you'll find yourself being more correct on long term views than most of the so-called experts.

There is a lot of information on leverage and how it is very misunderstood. In fact after reading this book, you will know that the leverage offered to you is not leverage at all, and in fact has everything to do with you! You'll learn that ultimately, there is no difference between leverage of 100:1 and 400:1.

Finally, you'll get to see how Dirk trades. He has a unique style that does incorporate charts, but also a very powerful 4 step strategy. If you are someone who wants or likes to understand why things work, and become a very knowledgeable student of the forex markets, I highly recommend Bird Watching in Lion Country.

P.S. I have this book and feel it is in my top 5. I have also read it more than once and it does get better with each read.

Ideal for those who prefer to trade using Technical Analysis

Ideal for beginners or for those struggling

Can be used by those with some time or a lot of time

Peter Bain Forex Mentor

 peter bain forex mentor picture

Peter Bain's Forex Mentor, is just that, a mentorship program.

This was how I started my forex journey quite some time ago. It is a very technical based program, relying on just a few technical indicators including price itself. Peter uses a top down approach and enables students to experiment with a variety of set ups if that is your wish, or you can follow Peter.

The point to the program is that you have a very large amount of support. A question to Peter becomes a talking point amongst the whole membership base.

You can send in examples of recent trades and Peter will go through them with a very high level of care, but he will also make his analysis live to all. Now when I say live, I mean that 4 times a week, Peter does what he calls his AM review. His AM review is a visual presentation of the following -

  • His own trade from the most recent trade session and how he analysed the trade (he'll even include the ones that go wrong)
  • A section for beginners to familiarize themselves with the program and the many resources available on the web site
  • A review section where he takes all the questions sent to him, including pictures of charts etc, and analyse the trade for the benefit of not only the sender but for all those that watch the AM review.
  • And much more

Peter has been using this method of trading very successfully for many a year. He began his trading career trading futures but now believes the forex market is the best in the world.

The course is mainly aimed at beginners, with the intent of creating not only successful traders, but those with a thirst to learn more and become a more advanced trader, should that be your wish.

There is one final thing that must be made mention of, to do with Peter's course, and that is the Big Dogs. Peter's background involved working with very large companies who's trading of the futures and currency markets is of the elite. This means these people, the big dogs are paid to get it right.

Peter teaches you how to follow the big dogs like a car in the tail wind of a truck. The benfits of following the big dogs is to gauge the longer term moves of the markets (from a few weeks to a few months), and I found this to be one of the greatest tools ever taught. There is no fundamental teachings when it comes to the big dogs, just a simple technical appraoch which will amaze you!

This is a course for those with some time during the week, although a full time approach is not necassary. It's bias is technical analysis, however because Peter has a very good understanding of fundamentals, he passes this information on when he deems fit.

If you are the sort of trader who prefers to deal with technical analysis, wants support, and wants to be able to expand, then this is for you.

Forex Trading Strategy

A team consisting of a top level PhD Mathematician, a computer wizard and a behavioural psychologist are behind the invention of this ebook valued at $97, although at the time of writing was being offered for $67. The idea is to teach you how the herd think. In the example diagram, it is shown that the herd get in at A when the trend is almost over, only to be scared off at B because the smart trader was in a lot earlier and is now taking profits. If however, some of the herd have managed to stay in beyond B, such is the relief to get back some of their losses, they are happy enough to get out at C, with a smaller loss, only to see price take off again.

The Government Doesn’t Want You to Read This Article About the Financial Crisis
December 2, 2008

Editor’s Note: This article has been excerpted from a free issue of Robert Prechter’s monthly market letter, The Elliott Wave Theorist.

The full 10-page market letter, Be One of the Few The Government Hasn’t Fooled, can be downloaded free from Elliott Wave International.

By Robert Prechter, CMT

“Who Will Benefit From The Housing Act?”

This question is an actual headline from a national daily paper. The real answer is: mortgage lending corporations, developers, real estate agents, speculators and politicians. The government is also pledging tax money to providers of “financial counseling” and grants for speculators who want to “buy and renovate foreclosed housing”; in other words, it will hand tax money to charlatans and unfunded wheeler-dealers. But a far better headline would have been, “Whom Will the Housing Act Hurt?” The answer to that question is: (1) prudent people, i.e. savers, earners, renters and people who have waited to buy a house at a reasonable price; and (2) innocent people, i.e. taxpayers.
